Breed Temperament

  • English Cream Golden Retrievers are renowned for a gentle, calm, and affectionate temperament, often described as more laid-back than their American counterparts. These intelligent dogs are highly trainable, eager to please, and generally patient with children and other pets, making them excellent family companions. They typically require 60-90 minutes of daily exercise.

  • Goldendoodles are typically intelligent, friendly, and affectionate family companions, inheriting the best traits of Golden Retrievers and Poodles. They are highly social, eager to please, and generally gentle with children and other pets, though they require consistent exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. And their coats can require regular grooming if very curly.

  • Our sweet puppies are a soft mix, about 60/40 English Cream Retriever to Poodle, F1 Golden Doodles. While many Golden Doodles are primarily Poodle (often 80% or more), in an effort to reduce shedding, we have opted to breed for a more dominant Golden Retriever genetic mix. This means that our puppies maintain more of the gentle and calm temperament of the Golden Retriever as compared to other Doodles. The Goldendoodle is bred back to the Golden Retriever, these are called reverse F1b’s or sometimes “better backs” as they are bred back to the “better” breed. A 60/40 mix also allows our puppies to maintain more “hybird vigor” or avoid inbreeding depression and predisposition sometimes seen in purebred dogs. Our puppies are a highly affectionate, intelligent, and gentle hybrid, blending the calm, sturdy nature of English Cream Golden Retrievers with the smart, low-shedding, and playful traits of a Poodle. They are loyal, easy to train, and excellent with children and other pets, though they need regular exercise and mental stimulation. Their wavy coats are easy to groom and do not require the maintenance of a tight curl coat. No dog breed is completely non-shedding, however, our puppies are generally low-to-moderate shedders, offering a significant reduction in hair compared to purebred Golden Retrievers.
